Wyze Cam 1080p HD Indoor Wireless Review

Well now checking out the Wyze Cam. As you can see the Wyze camera has a unique Cube design, the flexible base allows you to aim it where you want, but please note that the camera does not have pan and tilt motors, the base is magnetic which gives you some flexibility when it comes to mounting it.

The camera can record in 1080p with the night vision infrared LED. The picture quality looks great it's not quite as good as the logitech circle to that I recently reviewed but it's clear enough to see people approaching the camera.

Please note that the infrared night vision LED will not work through glass, so you won't be able to see or record motion outside at night through a window. The Wyze cam app allows you to easily configure the camera and connect it to your Wi-Fi. It will also send you a push alert whenever the camera detects motion.

Similar to the logitech circle 2 camera you can create a time-lapse recording of the day but you must schedule it in advance and it only records at regular intervals, not just when it detects motion. Unlike the circle 2 camera which only gives you one day of cloud storage.

The Wyze camera gives you a full two weeks of motion storage in the cloud. You also have the option of using a microSD card up to 32 gigs, to record 24/7 locally. So even if your internet connection goes down you still have a copy of your recordings, that's another big advantage over the logitech circle 2 camera, which has no local storage at this time.

The camera also features two-way audio allowing you to use the app to talk to a person near the camera. While the Wyze camera packs a lot of functionality it is missing a few features, as I mentioned earlier you cannot move the camera while you're away it is stationary.

You also cannot specify specific zones of the image for motion alerting, just the sensitivity. Also there is no apple homekit or I have TTT support at this time. Audio will always be included when recording to the microSD card, or when a motion clip is safe to the cloud.

You may want to keep that in mind if you plan to keep it running all the time inside your house. If you don't want to save anything to the cloud, be sure to disable the motion and sound alerting options. Please note that I'm reviewing a pre-release version of the camera so be sure to check my website for an updated review as new features are released.

Overall for a quick and easy way to check in on your house while you're away, you can't beat the price and picture quality of the wyzy cam. I especially like the generous cloud storage of motion events, and the ability to record locally to a microSD card.

Amazon Echo Dot (2nd Generation) Review

The second-gen mini-sized amazon echo dot smart speaker is terrific, and well worth the $50 that amazon has asked me to spend on it. it's an easy recommendation because it's functionally the same product as the first gen Amazon echo dot, which one editor's choice from us back in March.

The dots available in white now which I think looks pretty good, and you'll also use these two buttons up on top to change the volume as opposed to turning a ring like you will in the first gen dot, but aside from that nothing major has changed, and for the most part that's a great thing.

Alexa can still stream music play podcast, answer your questions, set kitchen timers, control your smart home gadgets, tell bad jokes and read the headlines. even I might add the headlines from this blog. the sound quality in the new model is about the same as the old one too, perhaps a bit fuller and a little bit less trouble.

you can also connect the echo dot with an external speaker like this one using Bluetooth or a line in cable, now one minor quibble amazon didn't include a line in cable with the echo dot. they only cost a couple of dollars typically and you might even have one lying around at a junk drawer but still would have been nice if Amazon had included them.

I also wanted a second gen Amazon echo dot to be a better listener than generation one. that was a fantastic result even with a speaker blaring music right behind it the second gen echo dot heard me almost every time. first gen echo dot almost never heard me.

So yes the second gen Amazon echo dot is a terrific product and a steal at it's $50.00 asking price. Amazon echo dot might be too tempting to pass up.
